Arkansas Cat Murdered, Spray-Painted with Word ‘Liberal’

A family pet has paid the price for human hatred. The adult Siamese-mix cat was discovered by owner Jake Burris, the manager of Arkansas Democrat Ken Aden’s Congressional bid.

According to a press release from Aden’s campaign, the cat was found Sunday night with its head smashed to the point that its eyeball was barely hanging from its socket. The word “liberal” was spray-painted across its body.

“To kill a child’s pet is just unconscionable,” Aden said in the statement. “As a former combat soldier, I’ve seen the best of humanity and the worst of humanity. Whoever did this is definitely part of the worst of humanity.”

The case is under investigation by the Russellville (Arkansas) Police Department. A report has also been made to the FBI.

Aden’s campaign said it does not believe that his opponent, incumbent Congressman Steve Womack, was involved in any way. “Although we have certainly disagreed and engaged in a great deal of civil discourse, I do not believe in any way that Congressman Womack or his campaign had anything to do with this incident,” Aden said.

Arkansas’ 3rd District, where Aden is running, is a heavily Republican area and the Congressional seat has been held by the GOP since the 1960s.
